Give, Take, Give Back
A simple passing game sitting face-to-face: a little object goes from your hands to theirs and back again, with a cheerful “here you go!” to start and a playful “thank you!” when it returns. Keep the cycle going at your baby's pace, as long as they are having fun.

Step by step
- Sit on the floor facing your baby with a safe object that is easy to grasp and too big to swallow (a teething ring, soft ball, or wooden spoon).
- Hand it over with a clear “Here you go!” and a big smile.
- Open your palm (“Can I have it?”) and wait without rushing them—a few seconds is often all it takes. If they keep it or drop it, just smile and try again with a different object.
- When they hand it back, welcome it with a warm, dramatic “Thank you!”—that fun reaction is what keeps them playing.
- Give it right back and restart the cycle, mixing up the pace and objects. Weave in “please” and “thank you” naturally, without ever demanding them.
- Once they get the hang of it, expand the game: add a third person (“give it to Daddy”), or hold out a basket to drop it into. Stop as soon as they lose interest—keep it light and fun.
