Bead Threading with Pattern Cards
A lace with a stiff tip, a bowl of chunky beads, and two ways to play: first thread freely just for the fun of it, then copy patterns from cards—red, blue, red, blue. At the end, line up the necklace under the card so your child can check and fix their own work.

Step by step
- Place the chunky beads in a bowl and set the lace on a tray.
- Start with a few sessions of free threading, without any patterns, just to master the movement.
- Show a simple pattern card (red-blue-red-blue) and read the sequence out loud together.
- Let them thread along with the card placed clearly in view.
- At the end, line the necklace up right under the pattern: let your child compare and correct it themselves, not you.
- Try smaller beads, 3-color patterns, or let them make their own pattern card for someone else.
