Step by step
- Dustpan and brush, cleaning cloths, and a small water spray bottle, kept at their height in a dedicated basket.
- Introduce each tool by showing ONE move slowly (sweeping into the pan, wiping in circles), just once.
- After meals (their spot), after an activity (their table), on Saturdays (their shelf).
- Let them do the whole process, from the first wipe to putting the kit away, without redoing it in front of them.
- Never punitive, always about 'caring for our space'—tidy YOUR own zone at the same time.
- Take turns looking after a shared room, noticing what needs a little care.
