Step by step

  1. Take photos or print pictures of what belongs in each bin (cars, books, stuffed animals).
  2. Stick each label onto its bin together with your child.
  3. Walk around the bins together and introduce the game: "every toy has its own home!"
  4. Always kick off tidy-up time the same way (with a dedicated song), and pitch in alongside them.
  5. Ask questions instead of giving orders: "Where does this book live?" and let your child decide.
  6. Try subcategories (big vs. little cars), tidy up with spoken clues only, or give them their own dedicated zone.
