Pour and Scoop Sensory Bin

Step by step

  1. Fill a large plastic bin with dry rice or chunky pasta and place it on a spread-out bedsheet: spills are expected, not a problem.
  2. Add bowls, a funnel, spoons, and small cups.
  3. Scoop, bury hands, make it rain, no instructions needed. Stay close—raw rice is tempting to taste, so just keep an eye out.
  4. Bury small toys to discover, and encourage filling and dumping the containers.
  5. 'full', 'empty', 'more', 'all gone'. Kids learn math concepts through their hands first.
  6. Lift the sheet and funnel everything right back into the bin (pure magic!), pop the lid on, and save it for next time.
