Step by step
- Stepping stool, apron, chopping board, kid-safe knife, and easy-to-prep ingredients right within reach.
- Crown your sous-chef of the day: having an official job brings instant pride.
- Wash the salad, slice a banana, spread butter, squeeze an orange.
- Show the movement once, in slow motion, then let them do it without stepping in to correct.
- Stay nearby and calmly remind them of the rules (the knife stays on the board), without hovering over every move.
- "The salad was made by our chef today!" Make sure their effort is seen and celebrated.
