Finish the Pattern Strips
Paper strips with starting patterns—red, blue, red, blue—and paper tokens to keep the line going. Once they crack the code, swap roles: your child invents their OWN secret pattern, and you have to guess it (making a few playful mistakes along the way!).

Step by step
- Print the pattern strips (AB, AAB, ABC) and cut out the colored tokens.
- Point and say the start together ("red, blue, red, blue...").
- Ask "what comes next?" and let them place the matching token.
- Let them keep the pattern going as long as they want.
- Your child invents their OWN rule, you guess and complete it, making a few mistakes so they can correct you.
- Recreate patterns with sounds (clap-snap) and dance moves.
